25-1-2026 Ratha Saptami or Surya Jayanthi on Sunday

Ratha Saptami is a Hindu festival celebrated on the seventh day of the bright half of the month of Magha, marking the beginning of the sun-god Surya’s northward journey, known as Uttarayana. It is also considered the sun god’s birthday (Surya Jayanti) and is associated with the coming of spring, longer days, and better health. The festival’s name comes from the belief that the sun god’s chariot, drawn by seven horses, turns northwards on this day.
