“Pedda panduga” is a major festival of Sankranthi (also known as Makar Sankranti) in the Telugu language, meaning “big festival”. It is celebrated in Andhra Pradesh and is associated with the harvest, the sun’s journey into Capricorn (Makara Rasi), and the beginning of longer days. Activities include flying kites, traditional sports like bullock cart races, cultural events, and preparing special foods.
